The History of Computers – Learn New Technology

The History of Computers

Uninformed computer science researchers would probably note the first computer in the mid-1930s. In fact, this story goes back almost 2000 years, with the invention of the abacus where the user has programmed beads using formulated constructions.

Although many historians warn against the use of the word computer except to define twentieth century computers, a broader understanding illuminates an instrument designed by a Frenchman and that functioned as a calculator and designed for a tax collector in the United States. 1600s. Improvements to this calculator continued until the 19th century.

Similar work was under way in England and, with government support, a mechanical calculator was invented. It was powered by steam and supported a fixed schedule for its use. This calculator has undergone many changes until an automatic calculator is invented. Following this wave of discoveries and inventions, little changed until the early 1900s, when detailed mechanical and transport work required complex mathematical calculations (especially calculations).

Two Census Bureau employees have started looking for a way to calculate the information accurately. They designed the idea of a punch card that would be inserted into the computer, read and stored. The biggest advantage of these slow machines was the ability to store large amounts of information with ease and precision.

The early 1940s and the imminent world war brought the military into the computer age. New weapons requiring computer technology to be effective were needed, designed and manufactured. These machines were large floor models and used the floor space of an average family home (approximately 2,000 square feet). An independent computer (computador) was not adequate and a means was found to connect computers that produced a more precise and clear information channel. These devices were not only cumbersome, but they required rewiring and re-routing for each program. Larger inventions were in progress. These new computers (computador) would have the capacity of memory and would be faster than any other existing computer at that moment.

In 1947, the first modern programmable computers were designed. They contained Random Access Memory (RAM) and allowed access to information in seconds. This technology continued to be tested and improved in the 1950s, when magnetic core memory and a transistor circuit element were discovered. These have increased the memory capacity and functionality of computers. On the other hand, the cost of using these machines was astronomical. By their very determination, these devices have evolved into amazing machines that can work with multiple programs simultaneously while giving the impression that only one program is being used.

As recently as the 1960s, computers were more available and the price had become almost reasonable for businesses. However, their use was mainly limited to operations based on mathematical bases such as billing, accounting and payroll. One of the main purchasers of these devices was the hospitals that stored patient dates, inventory, billing, treatments, etc.

In the 1980s, smaller personal computers were produced. The technology continued to surprise the general public when the microchip was created, allowing the sale of personal computers with program disks for download. A glance at most medium and large companies would reveal many desktop computers in use.

It would be impossible to retrace the history of computers without thanking Apple Computer and IBM for their constantly evolving technology. Radio Shack, associated with Apple Computer (Computador), produced video games for the computer (a movement of the arcade).

The opportunity for businesses and individuals to access the global Web has given rise to new and innovative marketing and communication with applicants and / or customers. Today, it is inconceivable to try to search for something online without finding several references. The momentum has only accelerated and new upgrades are available almost daily.
